LOCATION Rome and Cortona. Rome is easily accessible by plane and a Cortona is a 2-hour train ride from Rome. ABOUT ROME All roads lead to Rome, so they say. Or maybe it should be all interests. Food lovers can spend a lifetime sampling the city’s pasta—impossibly buttery cacio e pepe, rich and meaty carbonara. Art fanatics can tour masterpiece after masterpiece by the likes of Michelangelo and Raphael. And history buffs can explore an absurd amount of ancient sites, from the Pantheon to the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain. But just when you think you have Rome figured out, it surprises you. Just look at its nightlife, which rivals any European capital with its up-all-night energy and legendary clubbing. And even if your bar-crawl days are behind you, it’s worth joining locals in the Roman tradition of an aperitivo (pre-dinner drink) to toast this eternal city. ABOUT CORTONA Cortona is a small, welcoming town in the mountains between the Valdichiana and the Tiber valley. It was such an important Etruscan center that the existence of ancient settlements is still visible today, with its two kilometers of walls dating back to the fifth century BC. The village is particularly picturesque due to its typically medieval architecture, consisting of ancient palazzos, narrow cobbled streets, small artisan shops and classic Tuscan trattorias. If you are in the historical center, the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, built in 1456, is a must-see. In 1480, the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini began constructing the sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie in Calcinaio, just outside the city.

TESTIMONIALS

“We stayed at Villa Pinetina (10 people, 5 beds, 4 en-suites) which was arranged quickly by Hill Top Tours, after our original villa was sold privately and no longer available. Jonathan, Julie and Luca really looked after us and arranged a number of trips. Roberta (Robi) and Anna were our chefs and they were excellent. They were very friendly and happy to help in any way they could and their food was fantastic. They also arranged a birthday meal with wine pairing at short notice and Dario, the sommelier, was excellent and also looked after us at SottoVoce , which is HTT's bar in the centre of Cortona. Overall highly recommended.” - Nigel B.

“HTT staff is top notch. They're always responsive and a pleasure to work with for all my bookings in Tuscany and other European cities.” - Mara C.

“This tour company were awesome - we arranged a wonderful week in Tuscany for eight of us - no mean feat! Hill Town Tours looked after us every step of the way and found us the most beautiful Tuscan villa which was a beautiful walk away from Cortona. Our stay was idyllic and went off without a hitch - they even helped us to rent a vespa which totally added an extra layer of Italian authenticity! Thank you Hill Town Tours.” - Angela L.

A note from UE Swim & Dive Aces Booster Club Inc: Our 2nd annual Jason D Morse auction is being run by the UE Swim and Dive Booster Club. Our goal is to raise money to support, honor and to fulfill the Endowment Scholarship fund in Jason's name. The auction proceeds will go towards the Jason D Morse Endowment Scholarship fund and UE Swim and Dive Team. Background on Jason and this Endowment fund: In 2022 the Jason D. Morse '98 Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established. Morse passed away in 2017 after a three-and-a-half year battle with Adult Recurrent Wilms Cancer. Morse attended UE from 1994 through 1998, where he excelled as a distance freestyle swimmer for the UE swimming & diving program. Morse placed fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in the 1650-yard freestyle as a freshman, while placing eighth as a sophomore. He also was the first Purple Ace to break the 4:40 barrier in the 500-yard freestyle, as he left UE holding the school record in the event with a time of 4:39.36.
